The Centre

A new flagship, £18m leisure facility has been delivered significantly enhancing the town’s leisure offering. The newly refurbished Centre was re-opened to the public on 25th March 2019 and delivered an 8 lane 25m swimming pool, learner pool, 4 court sports hall, gym and exercise studios. This fantastic new facility, replaced the former Montem LC, allowing it to be demolished and freeing up the site for redevelopment. The Centre has been shortlisted within the Development of the Year category at the Thames Valley Property Awards 2020. It has also been selected for inclusion in the SPACES Yearbook and Awards 2020.

Slough Ice Arena

Slough Ice Arena

The old Montem Ice Arena was stripped back to the original steel and completely rebuilt with a 1000sqm extension fronting the Bath Road. The former Montem LC car park provided space for a temporary ice arena during this time. Opened in April 2019, the Ice Arena won Best Public Service Building in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2019 and it was selected to feature in the SPACES Yearbook 2019.

Claycotts School

Slough Borough Council has commenced a multi-million-pound investment in primary and secondary school buildings – to provide enough places for Slough’s current and future young people. The work is being delivered by Slough Urban Renewal (SUR). As part of this Claycotts School has benefit from a three-storey extension and part remodelling/refurbishment has delivered a multi-use dining/sports hall and an additional 15 classrooms for pupils, significantly increasing the number of school places available for local children. The extension was completed in December 2017.

Salthill Park

The all-weather, indoor adventure centre, which was previously home to a ten-pin bowling alley, has been transformed to provide a number of new family-friendly activities for people in the borough including a trampoline park, indoor high ropes that will offer the more adventurous among us a 15-foot-high aerial trekking experience, and caving. The Activity Centre also features a new café and family seating area at the heart of the building, and additional car parking spaces have been added to make it more accessible.
